Using a simple collection system, you can reduce waste, keep eligible drink containers out of landfill and get 10 cents for every eligible drink container returned to a Recycle Rewards refund point.

1. Set up a simple collection system

Choose a dedicated place to collect your eligible drink containers. This could be your laundry, garage, pantry or another convenient space thats easy for everyone in the household to use.

2. Make it part of your routine

Container collection and return is easiest when it’s part of your routine.

Small habits quickly add up. A household returning just 100 eligible drink containers receives a $10 refund.

3. Decide where your refund goes

Every household has different goals.

You might save for a treat or holiday, contribute towards sporting or school costs, put the money towards groceries or household expenses and donate to a local community group.

4. Find your nearest refund point

This might be near your home or work.

Check out our interactive map or use the Recycle Rewards app to find your nearest refund point

Setting yourself up for success

Ensure your drink containers are empty and uncrushed, with labels intact. You can leave the lids on too!

A large reusable bag or tub with handles is great for collecting, transporting and returning your drink containers. Recycle Rewards bags are available for $4.50 from Service Tasmania centres statewide.

Keep your collection bag or tub near where drinks are consumed, and ask everyone in the household to place eligible drink containers straight into the collection bag.

Take your containers to a refund point before the bag is full or overflowing. Don’t forget to pack some gloves and hand sanitiser, just in case of spills.

Get the kids involved by making container collection a fun family activity.
