Now that we’ve launched Recycle Rewards, the impact is truly grassroots.
Beyond the environmental benefits, the vocal heroes for Recycle Rewards are the young locals that plan to turn small acts into big changes – community, social, and entrepreneurial. From Hobart to Riverside and Burnie, these legends are stepping forward to show how powerful small changes can be. It’s not just about reducing litter; it’s about the people and places we care most about.
Dustin, has big dreams (and an even bigger heart)
In Riverside, 7-year-old Dusty isn’t collecting containers for pocket money – he’s planning to donate his refund to Eventide Sanctuary to help animals in need.
“When I grow up, I want to be a vet,” says Dustin. “Or maybe a full-time helper with Ian at the Sanctuary.”
With favourite school subjects like art and drawing, and a heart full of compassion, Dustin is a perfect example of how Tasmania’s youngest are embracing sustainability and generosity in equal measure.
Molly – helping make hockey more accessible at McKenna Park
Hockey players on the northwest coast are collecting containers for their teams and their generous spirit includes improving the facilities as well.
The West Devonport Hockey Club are cashing in containers for new hockey balls, while Molly and fellow players at McKenna Park Regional Hockey Complex are raising funds so that more kids on the northwest coast have the chance to get involved in hockey.
Brotherly love – from litter to gifts and in between
Aavar in Hobart is passionate about Tasmania’s natural resources and our beautiful beaches. A keen observer, he hates seeing litter when he’s visiting Bruny Island with his family.
With Recycle Rewards though, he is happy to consider how he and his younger brother (aged 2) can make an impact with a small reward in mind for helping!
He hopes that with Recycle Rewards he will be able to buy his brother a toy he wants.
Recycle Rewards is Tasmania’s step toward a circular economy, where litter becomes opportunity and every container counts.
