With the festive season upon us, Recycle Rewards is calling on Tasmanians to spread the goodwill by choosing to “donate your empties” to more than 600 registered donation partners across the state.

From local community clubs and school fundraisers to statewide charities, donation partners play a vital role in helping turn drink containers into much-needed funding for programs, services and people in need.

Since 1 May, Tasmanians have donated more than $160,000 by returning their eligible drink containers to Recycle Rewards refund points.

Warmer weather also means many more containers in circulation as Tasmanians fire up the barbie, hit the beaches and head to festivals. TasRecycle CEO Ken Roughley encouraged Tasmanians to make donations part of their holiday routine.

“Every container counts. By donating your empties, you’re helping the environment strengthening your community. It’s a simple action that has a real impact.”

This year, Recycle Rewards is proud to highlight RSPCA Tasmania as its major Donation Partner. Funds raised will help RSPCA Tasmania continue its important work to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals across the state. With the increase in demand for animal welfare services during summer, these contributions make a meaningful difference.

RSPCA Tasmania CEO Andrea Dawkins said container donations are a much-needed boost at a busy time of year. “We rely heavily on community support, and Recycle Rewards gives Tasmanians a simple, everyday way to help animals who desperately need care. Donating your empties truly helps save lives.”

With more than 600 Donation Partners, Tasmanians can choose a cause close to their heart – whether it’s animal welfare, youth services, sports, the environment or local schools.

Accessible network of return points

Recycle Rewards offers a statewide network of convenient refund points, including reverse vending machines, depots and over-the-counter locations, making it easy to donate your empties this festive season.

Corey Wingard, General Manager Tasmania for network operator TOMRA Cleanaway said, “Many of our locations across Tasmania are hosted by not-for-profit and charity organisations. Just by participating in Recycle Rewards, Tassie communities are making a difference in so many ways.”
