Recycle Rewards is a key initiative of the Tasmanian Government which aims reduce litter and create clean streams of recycled materials that will help build Australia’s circular economy.

Once the scheme starts on 1 May 2025, Tasmanians will receive a 10c refund for returning eligible drink containers to designated refund points around Tasmania. 

Recycle Rewards aims to provide all Tasmanians with opportunities to participate in the scheme and claim refunds for eligible containers. A phased roll out is currently underway and once the network is fully established, there will be a network of 49 refund points across the State, including on King and Flinders Islands.

Funded by contributions from the beverage industry, it aims to increase recycling rates and reduce litter by up to half. Recycle Rewards will:

Recycle Rewards operates on a partnership model, with partners working together to create a successful scheme for Tasmania.

TasRecycle

TasRecycle is the Scheme Coordinator and handles the financial operations, marketing and community education to maintain scheme integrity. TasRecycle is a not-for-profit entity.

TOMRA Cleanaway

TOMRA Cleanaway is the Network Operator overseeing the refund points, refunds to customers and ensures proper recycling of the containers.
